“In retrospect, the experience was sublime. Over the course of the night, it was clear to see that ‘gyaffing’ and ‘liming’ had become a happening untinged by spectacle, an unassuming and slow-moving performance that activated ‘place.’ There is something palatable about that which intrigues me. As an art piece, it slowed down and disrupted processes of looking and understanding. Art viewing and spectator engagement became entangled within a two-way dialogic that broke down the exclusivity and statehood of the white cube. Art as a culturally marked happening dresses the familiar, an outcome I find highly affective” (Neptune, Thesis Monograph pg 36).
