“Pulling at My Labels,” the final installment of the Eye of the Storm series, is a recorded performance that subverts the gaze. In “Pulling at My Labels,” I juxtapose recorded footage of myself pulling a series of racial myths from my caricature with footage of self-portraiture. The gesture serves as a ritualized act of self-actualization.
